Jennifer Lawrence Faces Criticism for Rehoming dog after Child bite

Jennifer Lawrence has faced criticism online after saying she gave her chihuahua a new home after the dog bit her young son.
The actress shared the story while speaking at a screening of her film Die My Love in New York. She explained that becoming a mother has changed how she feels about having pets around small children. During the discussion, she also made a joke about wanting to “get rid of every dog” after the incident, which upset some people.
After her comments spread online, many people criticised her on social media. Some said she was being irresponsible or lacking compassion, while others felt her words made it seem acceptable to give up pets after incidents that could have been avoided.

Many people online said her comments were “disappointing” and “awful,” arguing that the way she spoke could make people more fearful of dogs or lead to animals being treated badly. Others felt her words downplayed the importance of pets and sent the wrong message to other pet owners.
However, not everyone was critical. Some fans, along with dog trainers and animal welfare experts, defended Lawrence and said people should not judge her too quickly. They pointed out that parents have to put their children’s safety first, and that finding a new home for a pet can sometimes be the responsible choice.
Lawrence also explained that becoming a mother has made her more nervous around dogs and changed how she sees them. She said the chihuahua was rehomed with her parents, not abandoned.
The actress has two young sons with her husband, Cooke Maroney, and has previously spoken about how becoming a mother has changed the way she looks at many parts of her life.
