Trey Songz Arrested over alleged Assault on New York Nightclub Worker

R&B singer Trey Songz has been arrested after allegedly punching a nightclub worker at a New York City venue.

The 41-year-old, whose real name is Tremaine Aldon Neverson, was at Dramma Night Club in Times Square when a staff member told him the club was closing at around 4:25 a.m. on 4 December. Prosecutors say Songz became angry and allegedly punched the worker in the face.

Neverson appeared in Manhattan criminal court on Sunday, where he was charged with assault. He also faces an additional charge of criminal mischief linked to a separate incident earlier the same morning at Mira, a Manhattan restaurant and hookah lounge. Prosecutors claim he caused about $1,500 in damage, including broken hookahs, DJ equipment and furniture.

The singer, known for hits such as “Slow Motion” and “Mr. Steal Your Girl,” was released on his own recognizance and wore a black face mask in court. The nightclub worker was granted an order of protection against him.

Songz’s lawyer, Mitchell Schuster, said the singer was confronted and surrounded by others, claiming his security team stepped in to protect him and that Songz was not the instigator. The lawyer added that Songz is cooperating fully and believes the full facts will emerge.

A judge granted Songz supervised release, noting his past legal issues, and he is due back in court on 18 February.
